International Conference on r-ICT
Bismillah,
There will be another international conference held in ITB supported by STEI-ITB. Well, here's another chance for us to present our papers regarding our mission to support the government program ie. providing ICT either infrastructure, services, and support. The aim of this conference is obvious ... how can we as academicians have programs to broaden ICT access to rural areas.
This of course will not be easy. According to Prof. I Gede Raka from Industrial Engineering Dept. after giving a short lecture on cultural behavior in relation with technological presence; the acceptance of technological presence depends mostly on certain culture and community's perception. You can never be able introduce handphones --assuming cellular networks are available-- to people which have relatively low knowledge especially in rural areas --I'm sorry if you feel offended ... but this is just an example-- compared to others. Perhaps they would've considered handphones as new "God" that exists thereafter. Look .. this is not funny but it might be true in some places.
Now what we can offer to the government are just solutions, wheter that would be feasible or not it's another matter. The point is ... we could raise economical growth with the existance of ICT --according to ITU-T 1% growth of ICT penetration index will raise 3% of economical growth, although it is still doubtful but at least some cases have proven its truth--.
One of my labmate introduces a new concept of how expanding the coverage of 802.11b/g Wi-Fi via Mesh-infrastructure hybrid network. Another labmate introduces a concept of future ubiquitous agricultural information system while me myself introduce ubiquitous disaster recovery information system. As I mentioned earlier ... we have a cooperation with Strong Angel III sponsored by SDSU. All of our papers in International Conference on r-ICT are accepted, Alhamdulillah ....
Insya 4JJ1 ... we could at least add an additional solution from many solutions to solve the imbalance of ICT penetration in national scope. Hopefully, not only people could access internet easily without spending more cost for information and increment on wealth but also increasing national educational level as well.
Insya 4JJ1 ....
